Jahaz Mahal which is located in Mehrauli, New Delhi. In Urdu language, 'Jahaz' means 'Ship' and 'Mahal' means 'Palace'. It was named as Jahaz Mahal, as it looked like a ship floating on the lake. This Mahal was built during the Lodhi dynasty as a pleasure resort.The reasons for building Jahaz Mahal retreat was to provide transit accommodation to the large number of pilgrims from Afghanistan, Arabia, Iran, Iraq and Turkey who came to visit the Muslim shrines.
